24 – Shortest call-out on record? Air Ambulance assistance

Type – Air Ambulance Assistance
Location – Hayfield Campsite
Team Members – 15
Duration – 5 minutes (1.25 man hours)

This must surely win the prize  for the shortest call-out ever!   Call received that Air Ambulance required assistance up at the campsite.  No sooner had Neale put the CALL OUT message out than we then received the STAND DOWN.  (Prompt action by Neale probably saved many team members from even leaving home!).

These ‘ambulance assist’ type jobs often result in the team being stood down whilst en-route, usually due to ambulance crews receiving assistance with evacuating casualties from members of the public – it all depends on the location involved.  Some people find these short duration call-outs frustrating, but the overriding thing is that the casualty receives prompt evacuation by whatever means the ambulance service can use.
