29: Callout 10th September 2011

  • Type – exhausted walker
  • Location – Edale Cross
  • Team Members – 17
  • Duration – 2Hrs or 34 man hours

I received a call from another team leader just after 9pm, passing on a call for assistance from a walker sat at Edale Cross who was exhausted and unable to continue. Our first party drove up to the area and met up with a party from Edale MRT and quickly located the gentleman. On initial assessment, concerns were expressed about the man’s condition due to the cold and he was gently carried by stretcher to the vehicle before being driven back down to our base. During the journey he was able to warm up and revive himself. After a cup of tea and some high energy food I dropped him off at his accommodation for a good rest and to dry off his kit.
